Armageddon Victory

Armageddon Victory
The battle of Armageddon is a call to prepare for Christ’s second coming and to be steadfast in hope (Rev 16:15; Mat 24, 25). However many are waiting for a future Armageddon victory when Armageddon also has a present day meaning. The book of Revelation consummates what Christ already provided. Today, believers can enjoy in very great measure what Christ will bring on His second return (Mat 10:7; Col 1:13).

Without going into prophetic details about the battle of Armageddon, may I suggest that Armageddon is not just a place in the Middle East, or an end time event, but has immediate relevance to us.  Armageddon is symbolic of the conquest of the enemies of Christ. To the enemy it is a self-destroying moment of madness when his best plot against God only manages to win him his own worst defeat. To the believer, Armageddon represents a decisive moment were through Christ; long-standing problems give way to long-lasting solutions. We need 'Armageddon' victories against long-standing ministry problems, long- standing sickness, long-standing business problems, long-standing marital conflicts, and long-standing financial problems.

Today can be the day that brings complete victory to your day-to-day experiences. Are you tired of waiting? Are you tired of piecemeal solutions? Are you tired of swinging back and forth? Are you tired of going in circles? Are you tired of going up and down like a yo-yo? The moment for a decisive move of God in your situation can come anywhere anytime by repentance and faith in Christ (Mat 6:33). You alone determine who wins in your heart daily.   Trust in God, that it is done through the precious blood of Jesus Christ, and the battle is won.

The Beast or the Best

The Beast or the Best

Thinking about beasts is neither my favorite business nor pastime. However, I recently found myself fascinated by the appearance and influence of a beast John saw in Revelation 13. The beast turned communities away from Christ, influencing them to instead place allegiance in godless human philosophies and values that eventually proved self-destructive. The beast controlled religion, politics, commerce, law, education, technology, entertainment, media and arts. It used its sensuous appeal, and brutal force to achieve its ends.

We face similar worldly forces in our societies today. Paul warns of a force that brings people into captivity through dominating how they think (Romans 12:2). Like the beast, this force has many heads and faces making it difficult to identify and defeat. It is like when one face is losing, more faces suddenly appear. If you succeed in chopping one head off, the other heads only seem to grow stronger. The force mutates like the HIV virus and assumes new forms of the same species. As a result, it is resistant to drugs. Similarly, solving problems in society is often elusive. Needs and ills are often increasingly harder to eradicate. When effort is made to eradicate them, different ones appear with new versions of the old.

The Church’s existence is a scourge in the domain of the beast. One of the beast’s heads had a massive scar. Christ inflicted a victorious blow on the beast at the cross (Genesis 3:15) and will eternally displace it  with His glorious Kingdom.  We are highly privileged to be ambassadors of this Kingdom. The multi-faced beast culture has affected all the dimensions of society. The witness of Christ must therefore be relevant, and multi-faceted to influence every people group and sector of society (Mathew 5:14-16). Ultimately, where the world’s ungodly culture brings to bondage, the Kingdom of God will set free (Proverbs 14:12; Luke 10:19). This Kingdom is the best by far. Will you follow the beast or the best? The choice is yours.

Wings from Above

Wings from Above
Reading the book of Revelation is a sweet and sour experience. From an earthly temporary perspective, its horrendous judgments are sour. However, God invites us to look from a heavenly perspective to experience sweet hope even in the worst of circumstances. Instead of fearing, we greatly admire the millions worshiping at His throne.

God in love gave the woman of Revelation 12 two wings of a great eagle to fly beyond the reach of her enemies to safety and nourishment. The strong wings carried her from the enemy's radar to a place prepared by God for her encouragement.  Friend, God gives those who wait upon Him wings to rise above threatening circumstances (Isaiah 40:31; Psalm 55:5-7; Exodus 19:4). Their testimony end like this – ‘I don’t know how I made it with such a background, with so little and while I was so weak.’

Does God seem absent, asleep or weak when evil persists? No, above the clouds of life, the light of God is always shining. You can access grace to soar above the things that threaten your dreams and legacy (John 10:10; 1 John 3:8). In a conflict between good and evil, good prevails. In a conflict between lies and truth, truth prevails.  In a conflict between oppression and freedom, freedom prevails. In a conflict between hatred and love, love prevails. Thank God, for freeing us to soar on wings of His favor through looking to Him in faith.

Emotional Tipping Points

Emotional Tipping Points

You wake up with a headache and discover a bad plumbing problem in the bathroom- the geyser's broken. As you drive to work, the car engine heats up. You get out of your car and open the bonnet to check what could be wrong. As you look inside, your spectacles fall off and are broken. Now you can hardly see and your phone starts ringing. Your franchiser instructs you to suspend business operations forthwith. Meanwhile, unpaid school fees for your kids are due that morning. As if not enough, your father living eight hundred kilometers away calls. He says its time for him to die so as not to burden you further. You politely begin to assure him that he is not a bother, but he cuts off the call and his phone becomes unreachable. Frustrated and annoyed by life, you stand there virtually blind when a good Samaritan from a far culture arrives. When he mispronounces your African name, that is the last straw. You do not care that he is saying a word in your language for the first time. With great fury, you blow up and appear to be the most unthankful, violent, impatient, and arrogant person on earth.

Simply put, do not underestimate the power of little things. It is of utter most importance to deal completely with negative experiences in your past or else, they will build up for long enough that you respond irrationally to the smallest things that go wrong. Little things can become last step catalysts to 'insane' behavior that can cause emotional heartache and broken relationships. Remember that at ninety-nine degrees Celsius water is very hot yet just a degree higher it starts to boil. One drop to a cupful can result in a spill. Little things of life marginally add to an accumulation of life experiences and consequences. Do little things destabilize you? They often are not the real issues; check how you have reached your emotional tipping point. Promptly cast your cares and worries upon God for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
